Spammers just made life a bit harder. Even though they cannot post with the new accounts created up until today, they keep creating them anyway - sometimes 10-15 a day. It seems the very existence of the account, even for a few hours until I delete it, will raise their slimeball link's rankings on Google. Thus I've disabled making new memepolice.com accounts from the server.
The memepolice is still open to all. If you want to open an account, just send me an email. Send it to the jbartas at speakeasy dot net (convert the at and dot words to email characters). Write a brief note promising you're not a spammer, and include a return email address that works, and I'll set one up for you.
We'll see if this works any better. In the meanwhile I'm looking into some new services that might here us keep meme policing alive while automatically blocking the spam. The battle goes on....
