Thom Hartmann on the radio is suggesting mandatory voting and accepting calls from listeners.

One of the listeners suggested this interesting idea:
Whichever state has the highest percentage of turnout for the primary, that state gets to vote first in the next primary.

Another idea is to give a discount on your income tax if you vote.
but I really like the incentive angle of giving priority to the state with the highest percentage turnout.

I also like instant runoff voting, and Oregon's system of all vote by mail with three (six?) weeks to get your vote in.

I like the high-turnout -> early primary idea. It gives the most passionate areas the most visbility, which seems quite democratic to me.

But the indcome tax idea leaves me cold. With our current tax structure this would benefit the the rich people most, and they are already more inclined to vote.

Now if only Mr. Hartmann would could up with a catchy slogan for the high-turnout -> early primary idea....

Well, I think the discount on the income tax was a set amount rather than a percentage, and that benefits poorer folks more. It was also coupled with the idea that the Tuesday we vote would be a work holiday, so everyone can vote.

Shall we try to come up with that catchy name for highest voters/first vote?

Vote to Vote? Most come, first served? Percentage incentive? Most vote/ First vote? Race to the Primary? Prime the Primary?
