As Martha, of Rockridge Institute Forum, used to say, "watch out for the DLC!"

The DLC (Democratic Leadership Council) considers itself a "common sense" movement within the Democratic party. The DLC uses a pragmatic, but violent, approach, towards foreign policy, and an anally receptive approach, towards corporate America.

It is the DLC, represented by Steny Hoyer, who are the Corporate Hegemony's plan B. Notice how the Conservative Noise Machine really supports the DLC-types (mediamatters.org has some nice examples).

It's November, 2006...

BIG OIL and PHARMA must turn their mighty torrents of cash upon the hapless Democrats, the non-Republican alternatives in the recent elections.

BIG OIL and PHARMA had been co-habiting with the Republicans, until their landslide eviction from Congress, earlier this month. No lobbyist can afford to sleep with the losers. Must... crawl... to... power.

BIG OIL and PHARMA cruised the Democratic lunch room and found some willing suitors in the DLC.

Studs... like Steny Hoyer. Prime Congressmanmeat for Corporate Appetites.

The moral of the story: The corporate elements of the Democratic party, represented by the Democratic Leadership Council, are as bad as the Republicans.
